Graphing Calculator Activities

Activities for TI-84 Family

Equations of Parallel Lines
This activity is designed for TI-84 Color models only. Students will learn how to set the background of the graph window to a photo.  They will then try to develop the equations of the parallel lines shown in the photo on the graph.

Sides of a Triangle
In this activity, students learn how to create a polygon using lists and a scatter plot.  They will also determine the equations of the lines containing the sides of the triangle and lastly, review domain and use it in the calculator.

Exploring Trig Functions
Students use a TI-84 to graph sine, cosine and tangent functions in both degree mode and radian mode.  The activity starts with student choice for viewing window and then transitions into specifying a viewing window to change their perception of the function.  The activity concludes with a tie in to physical science by exploring how coefficients impact period and amplitude.
